The Ceremony

Under the Marriage Act 1994 Sweeney Hall Hotel, Shropshire is an approved premises as a venue for the solemnisation of marriages.

Three of our reception rooms at Sweeney Hall are licensed as wedding venues, you can choose which room suits your needs depending upon the number of guests you have invited to your wedding.

We only hold one wedding ceremony per day at Sweeney Hall, this means you will have our undivided attention to ensure your day is as perfect as you planned.

Once you have decided to have your Civil Wedding Ceremony here at the Sweeney you will then need to contact the Superintendent Registrars office, Shropshire Council, Shrewsbury to book their services to carry out your wedding Ceremony. Tel: 0845 678 9016

A Civil Wedding Ceremony can be personalised to you, having a friend or family member read a poem, your chosen music in the form of CD or a musician such as a harpist, all adding to the enjoyment of  your special day.

We charge £230 to host your wedding ceremony at Sweeney Hall Hotel payable to the hotel (the registrars fees are separate and payable directly to them).

There are certain legalities involved in booking a civil ceremony and these will be discussed and confirmed by the registrars office when making your booking with them.
